First Impressions

Second day of classes went swimmingly as well despite having an 8am- and for what- a genEd?!.. But luckily I am taking Mosaics II(Intellectual Heritage/English/Literature, etc whatever you choose to call it) with the same professor I had for Mosaics I. I got an A with him before so I couldn't resist taking him again.

Class let out early as most do in the first week so I headed over to Paley which is the campus library. All I needed to do was print something out and it sucked up so much of my time that it almost made me late to my next class- and I didn't even get to print it out! Word to the wise- the computer to printer ratio there is jacked so if you need to print anything out... go to the tech center or use the printer on the third floor!!! Unless of course you like standing in line and wasting your time.

After that whole fiasco I walked to Geography class, "World Urban Patterns". The professor started off the class by explaining that he thinks book publishers are totally scamming college students and textbooks are way too expensive therefore he doesn't want us to buy any for his class. Instead, he's going to put any articles or excerpts from books online for us to read. And most of them- he wrote. Usually when a professor has written a book relevant to the course, he or she requires every student to buy said book so they make a profit.. but not this guy- needless to say, I like him already.

I ended the "school day" with my Audio/ Visual News-gathering lecture. I think this is going to be my "Oh Shit!" class of the semester- I know I will probably learn a lot and learn to love it (after it's over) but it's going to be a lot of hard work.
That's okay, I'm up for the challenge!!

And it's only the first day..

Saturday I moved into my new apartment- well first apartment- and it is awesome having all this extra space compared to my dorm room last year. I honestly think I brought less stuff here than I did to the one little shared room.. so proud of myself! Saturday was all about unpacking and getting settled in- catching up with friends and reuniting myself with Maxis delicious pizza-mmm.

Sunday I took the long and (hot) walk to the food store to do my own food shopping. Wait- you mean food doesn't just magically appear in your fridge/cupboards? oh.. shopping list included caesar salad pack, tortilla chips, pasta, chi chi beans, and my new obsession- Edy's real fruit creamy coconut bars. After food shopping I rolled my groceries home in a cute lil caddy thing- like a stroller for food! I kinda felt like a bag lady but it did the job. After that I went to a work party in the Northeast- words cannot even describe... First we attended a concert headlined by one of our own- "Mama Julia". We stepped into the theatre/studio and traveled to Russia and back in time 20 years. It was the most entertaining thing I think I have ever been to- singing in 5 different languages and dancing. Next we went to a Russian style buffet- so delicious! And more dancing... so glad I went.

Now it's Monday and I just got back from my first class as a sophomore- local and state politics. And guess who my professor is! Yep you guessed it- it's Ms. Norbury from Mean Girls...only instead of Mathletes, she asked me to join the debate club.

I'm not even kidding- this could be a picture of Tina Fey or my professor- you decide.

So all in all a very memorable weekend and a great way to start off my sophomore year.

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoy my quirkiness :)
